Awaiting Baby

Baby #3 is a few short weeks away. We are only awaiting for the Big Day now. We're spending our time resting as much as possible, knitting and keeping house.

Homeschool Supplies

We've ordered our home school supplies from Marva Collins Seminars, Inc. We have all summer to prepare and then begin shortly after Labor Day. Also, we are full-on potty training. It will be a busy time!

A Baby Soon

We are a bit quiet, eagerly awaiting the new baby next month. I don't expect the little one within the next two weeks, but after that, any time is good.

Contemplating Compassion

During these quiet days, I've had time to reflect on compassion. I struggle so with my conflict with my parents and in-laws. It is so difficult for me to show deference and due respect, when I feel so bossed around and bullied. Even though it is not mean spirited, but well intentioned, I strain nonetheless. I pray every day, twice a day, for the right things to say and do. I only hope to be the best parent I can be to my own children. These days impending the birth of my youngest child brings this struggle to the forefront of my mind.

Talking about Fears in the Wee Hours

Last night, my oldest son had a nightmare. He came to me instead of the Vintner and cuddled. He told me all about the "thunderstorm" and his fears. We then talked about what daddy and mommy fear - things he doesn't (like iatrogenic injury.) I loved those learning moments. It was so worth the sacrifice of some sleep to talk to him about what nightmares are and how everyone has them and fears. The moments of parenting come to you, not you to them. One cannot schedule child development around adult time tables and convenience.

Possible Social Play

Yesterday, I had some time to socialize with ladies. It was lovely. Today, the children want their turn. We'll try to schedule a play date for them. Otherwise, we have a quiet day at home. Perhaps we'll have time to clean and tidy the house after a busy weekend.
